Daintree microgrid on radar following Federal budget allocations

BUDGET

Labor Senator for Queensland Nita Green has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to the Daintree microgrid following budget allocations to Far North Queensland.
Ms Green also said a pair of local schools are also in line for future funding.
“The Douglas Shire is a valuable part of our Far North region,” Ms Green told Newsport late this afternoon.
“From our responsible cost of living measures that will deliver cheaper childcare, 26 weeks paid parental leave, cheaper medicines, and getting wages moving again.
“As well as more affordable housing by delivering our Housing Australia Future Fund and a new National Housing Accord which will deliver up to 20,000 affordable homes.
“I am also excited about the $15 million investment for TTNQ which will drive international tourism and get people back to beautiful Tropical North Queensland, supporting local jobs and the local economy.
“The Douglas Shire will also see investment for the Regional Daintree Microgrid of up to $19.3 million up to three years from 2021-22 to support the deployment of renewable energy microgrid incorporating hydrogen for the Daintree community in Far North Queensland.
“During the election we committed funding to Mossman State School and Wonga Beach State School, and those projects will be delivered in consultation with the State Government.”
