New character sells Douglas Shire

MEET THE GECKO

In an ironic twist of events an American who moved down under and fell in love with Far North Queensland has created a fictional cartoon character that she hopes will help promote our region to both locals and visitors alike.
Michelle Patridge relocated to Australia nine years ago from Ohio and currently lives in Port Douglas.
All 15 books were lapped up in a heartbeat with local children loving the vivid pictures and illustrations of all the wonderful things to see and experience in the Douglas Shire and throughout the Daintree.
The star of the 32-page hardback book is the adventurous “Ecky Geck”, the Aussie Geck, a character local kids are already loving.
“I created this series for three-to-seven-year old’s to help start their awareness and general understanding about what an amazing country Australia is to live in,” Ms Patridge told Newsport.
“Through “Ecky Geck” young kids can see truly see all of the amazing things in our biggest backyard – Australia.”
Ms Patridge’s books and product line will be available at the Douglas markets until December 17.
