Very soon, in fact in a couple of days you’ll have a chance to say Hello Dolly. To Dolly Diamond that is. Following close on the high heels of ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical’, comes Dolly and her dear friend Tash to the Clink Theatre.
The Port Douglas stage will once again be inhabited by gender benders who are dressed to kill and ready to make you laugh. Dolly Diamond and Tash York are teaming up to bring you their brand-new show full of great music, great stories and all the best attention seeking techniques in the business. In fact, their new production is called ‘Attention Seekers’ and believe me it’s all about them, making it all about you.
Tash told Newsport she and Dolly love doing regional shows “The audiences are always fabulous and they’re not afraid to tell you what they think of the show afterwards and we love an honest audience, after all, we’re doing the show for them. Dolly added that the Douglas Shire is getting a preview of what’s to come “We’ve literally just finished writing this show and after Port Douglas we have a show in Melbourne and then we go on tour with it around Australia in 2023” Dolly’s alter ego is a fella by the name of Michael Dalton who is impossible to get a word out of except to say “The show is all about Dolly not me, I watch from the sidelines and just enjoy the show along with everyone else, now get on with talking about Dolly”. Ok I will. It’s interesting to note that both Michael and Dolly became Australian citizens on the same day back in 2014.

Dolly Diamond, this hostess with the mostess, is very well known down South where she’s taken up lots of causes outside of the theatre. Dolly is an Ambassador for Guide Dogs Victoria, Movember, Children's Tumour Foundation and the LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation. Dolly Diamond was the Artistic Director of the 2017 and 2018 Melbourne Cabaret Festival. She’s had successful seasons with the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Fringe World Perth, Melbourne Cabaret Festival, Ballarat Cabaret Festival and Broken Heel Festival. No that’s not a typo, Broken Heel not Broken Hill.
Over the last decade Dolly has been invited to lend her face and name to raise public awareness for some major Australian campaigns. These include hosting and appearing at numerous rallies for Marriage Equality in Adelaide and Melbourne. She has supported Blue September for the Australian Prostate Cancer Research Foundation, appeared in the web-series Being Brendo for the Victorian AIDS Council and she has given time hosting and appearing at the Water Polo League Pride Cup and the AFL-supported Pride Cup, both for Beyond Blue. Dolly has also hosted the Living Positive Victoria Candlelight Vigil in Melbourne’s Federation Square along with several events for AIDS awareness.
She has also worked with a range of other Victorian LGBTIQ community organisations over the last decade, including the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Pride March Victoria, Melbourne Rainbow Band and the Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus.
