The Douglas Shire can expect some medium to intermittent light rainfall this week which may get heavier by the weekend if a tropical low forms and makes its way down south from the Cape York area.

“The next few days we expect a ramp up in shower and storm activity in Far North Queensland,” BOM senior meteorologist Felim Hanniffy told Newsport.

“If that low forms and drifts across the Peninsula, that could bring more general activity, however a lot hinges on what happens with that low.

“If it forms and drifts south then there is a small chance the Mossman/Port Douglas region may see some increased heavy falls late in the week or over the weekend.”
