Port Douglas Police have put the call out for assistance to help identify an offender spotted twice in three days naked and wandering around local streets.

In a worrying development the alleged offender was observed holding his genitalia and making lewd comments to those in vicinity of the incident.

“Obviously any situation like this is very concerning for Police,” Port Douglas Sergeant and Officer-In-Charge Damian Meadows told Newsport.

“The first incident was on May 13 at about 11.45pm around Port and Davidson streets.

“The second took place on May 15 at around 8.45pm on Mudlo St. The offender is male, around six foot tall and (of) decent build.

“If anyone fits the description we ask them to contact Crimestoppers, Police link or us here at Port Douglas police station – as usual callers can choose to remain confidential.”

The local police boss reaffirmed his stance on such incidents.

“Crimes such as these will not be tolerated in our community,” Mr Meadows said.

“These acts are completely offensive, and we again put the call out to the public to help us identify who this person is.”

Meantime the local police boss praised festival goers and their behaviour during Carnivale.

“Carnivale is an institution in Port and it’s pleasing to say behaviour overall over the years has continued to improve,” he said.

“I was pleased overall with the safe behaviour of festival goers – it was good to see.”
