The Sharks proved too strong for the Kangaroos at Vico Oval.

A focus on set competition and players performing their individual roles to the best of their ability has proved the perfect tonic after the visiting Mossman Sharks knocked off the Kangaroos at Vico Oval.

The Sharks scored three tries in the first 16 minutes and from there they were never headed as they piled on the points to eventually secure a pleasing 40-12 win.

Prior to the crucial round seven contest Sharks captain coach Joel Marama indicated he wanted his flamboyant outfit to increase their completion percentage and that’s exactly what they did to trounce the home side.

Nelson Gibuma, Aggie Gibuma, David Nona and Matthew Gibuma were amongst the try scorers for the Sharks while Jack Thomas and Ty Millard crossed for the Kangaroos.

FNQ Rugby this week

Meantime, a week after their hard-earned win over the Bulls, the Raiders returned to earth with a thud, going down to Penrhyn in Port Douglas in the latest round of FNQ Rugby.

In a tight encounter the Sharks caused the boilover of the round to narrowly edge the Raiders 24-17.

The Raiders are on the road this week and will face Brothers in Cairns at Stan Williams park.
