Port Pooch Party

Let the dogs out

It’s the ‘Oscars’ for dogs in the Douglas Shire this Saturday morning at 10am till 2pm, where owners can mix it with their K9 friends and win big. Ports prestigious pooch party is being held at Jalunbu Park, Corner Mowbray and Garrick Street.
It’s a chance for locals to fluff up their four-legged friends and socialise, picnic, and party in the park with an event that’s sure to get tails wagging. It’s all part of this year’s Carnivale and this doggy day seems to get bigger every year.
Ray White Real Estate is sponsoring the party and top dog Mark Flinn is coming along with his team and their hounds. In Mark’s case it’s 4-year-old Duke, a Border Collie, who apparently thinks he’s human
Team member Soula is turning up with Olive, a Jack Russell, Ray White auctioneer Milo Rasinac is bringing along his 10-year-old Bulldog called Ovaltine and family friend Piper is bringing along her 2-year old Staffy Storm.
Mr Flinn told Newsport that it’s their first time sponsoring the event, but it won’t be the last “Paws and Claws do a fantastic job, and we want to be there to support them” he said.
Money to Paws and Claws
All money raised goes towards the opening of the newly built Paws and Claws animal shelter in the Douglas Shire. On the day, which by the way is a cat free zone, judges will be looking for:
- Cutest / Ugliest Dog
- Naughtiest Dog – Tails of disaster and destruction
- Dog with waggiest tail
- Best Dog trick
- Best Dressed Dog
- Best Groomed Dog
- Owner / Dog lookalike
- Douglas Top Dog (Equivalent to the Oscar)
Please don’t be concerned for your dog’s safety, Will Smith will not be there.
