The Port Douglas community raised a cuppa for cancer as LJ Hooker Port Douglas and Douglas Chamber of Commerce united to host their first Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea yesterday morning.

This year’s event featured a high tea for up to 80 people in the heart of beautiful Port Douglas with delicious food supplied by local businesses; Café Fresq, Mocka’s Bakery, Grant Street Kitchen, Mossman Bakery and Temptations Mossman.

As well as a raffle and auctions of prizes donated by the generous local business community.

The target of $5000 was more than reached with a total of $5720 raised for cancer support and research.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is the largest fundraising event organised by the Cancer Council of Australia. To raise money, people at home, school, work and in the community organise tea parties where morning tea is served.

Although the official day for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea was Thursday 19 May, Queenslanders are encouraged to host their morning tea event at any time during May or June.

All funds raised from the campaign will go towards Cancer Council Queensland’s research, prevention, advocacy and support programs.

Queenslanders are encouraged to visit biggestmorningtea.com.au to get started and make their mark this year.
