After two weeks of renovations, St Crispins Café has reopened to the public bigger and better than before.

The café is a vibrant hotspot overlooking the Mirage Golf Course and Daintree Ranges continuing to be a favourite of visitors, both tourists and locals.

Formerly Choo Choos, opened in 2016, the new incarnation as St Crispins has built up a reputation as a must do for all visitors.

Having taken over the ownership in July 2019 Karen Jackson and her establishment have become known for their great service and food with a view to match.

Switching aprons for tools

“The renovation took a bunch of tradies and the regular team of staff switching aprons for tools to turn it around so quickly,” owner Karen Jackson said.

The renovations include a fresh coat of paint, new chairs, an extended deck seating area along with more undercover areas to protect from the sun and rain.

The first visitors came through the doors last week with a steady stream since.

“We wanted to do our amazing location justice and create a light, bright and fresh venue for our customers to enjoy.”

The brand-new look comes at the perfect time for diners following the slump in business due to the pandemic and lockdowns and the owner was excited about opening doors again.

“It is an exciting time for us here at St Crispins Café.

“We have been planning a refresh of the venue for quite a while and it is fabulous to see our ideas come to fruition.”

Raving reviews

The reviews for the café continue to rave about the service and the reputation it carries.
“A must while in Port Douglas,” one diner said.

“It is the best breakfast in Port Douglas, great food cooked to perfection, and the staff are brilliant and very friendly,” said another.

When asked about signature dishes of St Crispins, Ms Jackson was quick to respond.
“It would have to be the 'Eggs A La Benny' and 'Homemade Potato Rosti' - our signature hollandaise sauce is next-level delicious on both.

“Our team takes pride in serving simple, honest food made from the finest local ingredients, as well as lovingly made Four Mile Roasters coffees.”
