Labor launches plan to tackle local issues

Local Plan

Just four days out from the Federal election Labor candidate for Leichhardt Elida Faith has joined colleagues to clearly outline how a newly appointment government would improve the quality of life for Far North residents.
Flanked by Shadow Minister for Northern Australia Senator Murray Watt and state Senator Nita Green Ms Faith helped launch Labor’s Far North Queensland Plan.
In the document were a host of pledges, commitments and promises Labor hopes will get them over the line when the country goes to the polls on Saturday.
That includes plans, among others, to combat and tackle the shortage of GPs in FNQ, the rising cost of living, rising cost of rentals, shortage of childcare, the Cairns marine precinct, renewable energy and Great Barrier Reef matters.
In a stern message to voters Mr Watt said locals “couldn’t take the risk of the LNP getting re-elected” and to act now by voting Labor because “we understand the challenges and issues that voters face and want addressed in Leichhardt.”
Meantime, in recent days Ms Faith has been busy on the hustings and has made some announcements along the way.
Recent messaging included a pledge to build Mossman State School a new tennis court shed, a promise to screen babies for serious diseases, to grow the economy in a sustainable way by investing in infrastructure and to build new social and affordable housing.
