Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Iron Bar

Global Event

Mother’s Day is a global event and families will this Sunday (May 8) enjoy the opportunity to spoil their mother and make it a day to remember … until next year.
And here in Port Douglas, the Iron Bar will be laying on a ‘feast’ PLUS a $10 dessert or a $12 toblerone or apple crumble cocktail!
“Give Mum what she really wants this year: delicious food, yummy wine and above all, quality time with her loved ones,” is how the Iron Bar is describing their offering on Mother’s Day.
The Iron Bar is an alchemy of rusty iron, sophisticated cocktails, tropical beats, hearty steaks, and hustling cane toads.
It is a restaurant, bar and late night venue, synonymous with entertainment in Port Douglas. By day, the Iron Bar is a popular dining destination.
The modern holiday was first celebrated in 1907, when Anna Jarvis held the first Mother's Day service of worship at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia.
Andrew's Methodist Church now holds the International Mother's Day Shrine. Her campaign to make Mother's Day a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died.
Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.
It complements similar celebrations, largely pushed by commercial interests, honouring family members, such as Father's Day, Siblings Day, and Grandparents' Day.
