At 8.10am this morning 3 vehicles crashed into each other on Coolalinga drive with the accident causing both lanes closed.

Mossman police senior stable constable Cassandra Hill said that 4 people were involved in the car crash, 2 of them were injured and  transported to Mossman Hospital. "The condition of the injured is unknown at this stage," Ms Hill said.

Lance Johnston from Port Douglas Transfers, arrived shortly after the accident and said it wasn't a head on.

"It was an over taking accident, a maroon Holden statesman ran up the rear of a black Ford van at Coolinga Rd intersection," he said.

"It's becoming a very dangerous stretch of road Port Douglas to Mossman."

A spokesperson at Mossman Hospital said the 2 injured people are in stable condition.
