Young athletes star in Brisbane

Track Stars
TWO little track stars have done the Port Douglas/Mossman region proud following stellar performances at the Queensland Little Athletics state championships in Brisbane.
Mossman St Augustine’s student Parker Lee placed a superb third in the 100m final while, both Parker and brother Hudson, both eight, placed first and third in their 800m race, with both achieving personal best times.
Those efforts come on the back of previous top performances at last year’s Little Athletics Qld regional championships in Tolga where they finished first and second respectively in the 100m, 200m and 800m to qualify for this year’s championships.
“Competing at such a high standard has really propelled the boys to continue training hard,” proud mother Alison told Newsport.
“To get to state they trained three days a week after school which saw their dad train them, with correspondence from their remote coach, Wally Plath, from Peak performance track team.
“Overall, the twins competed against 32 other boys their age who had qualified for the same events and they were very competitive in each race.
