Property Shop blends in with Mossman’s unique features

Business Feature

Mossman may have a smaller population than its close neighbour Port Douglas, it does not have a beach on its doorstep nor numerous resorts, restaurants, cafes and a host of attractions for tourists.
What it does offer is the right price (for real estate), community, lifestyle, and country style living for rural located properties in the surrounds.
It is the region's sugar capital and the Mossman Central Mill can process up to 800,000 tonnes of sugar cane per season; it is the region’s administrative centre and is home to the Douglas Shire Council; it has the Mossman Hospital; state high schools; a lively industrial plant; the world-renowned Mossman Gorge; excellent shopping and is close to the World Heritage Daintree forest.
There is therefore enough reasons for real estate company The Property Shop to view this town as a key part of their business. In fact, they have been doing so for nearly 20 years.
Veteran realtor and The Property Shop's principal and licensee, Alan Crossman, said Mossman has played a key role.
“We have operated an office out of Mossman since 2004 so this longevity has held us in good stead. We also hold a fair share of the residential rental market in and around Mossman, which is helpful.
“The Property Shop office in Mossman plays an important role with its contribution to this company's profile in the district. Mossman and its surrounds are not to be underestimated,” said Crossman.
In confirming that Mossman is currently a sellers market, Crossman said about 25 houses have been sold in Mossman in the past 12 months, not including the surrounds such as Cooya, Wonga, Newell, Daintree and Julatten.
Crossman said although Mossman has been more active over the past year, he says a shortage of stock may now become an issue.
Property Shop Port Douglas & Mossman was established in 2000, offering professional and exceptional real estate service to the Douglas Shire. Since then, the agency has expanded to three offices across Port Douglas, Mossman, and Four Miles Beach and now includes a large, experienced and passionate team of real estate agents and experts.
Crossman took over as Principal and successfully operated the business under the franchise model for many years, before coming full circle to Property Shop independent realty.
