Muddies beaten as Barron progresses to decider against Atherton

Muddies 5th grade beaten
MUDDIES will have 12 months to think about the season that was after crashing to a tight four wicket loss against Barron in their fifth-grade 35 overs semi-final clash at the Mudpit.
Bowling second Muddies reduced Barron 6-79, before the visitors cautiously successfully chased down their 83-run target on the second ball of the 29th over.
“We had our chances; we beat Barron last week, but on this occasion they were the better team,” 22-year-old Muddies skipper Keel Sorensen said after the match.
“We’re more of a bowling side, batting is a bit of a weakness for us, we’ve got a fairly young side and overall, I’m really proud of the guys and the season we had.
“I’m hoping to play again next year with the guys but my availability will depend on future work commitments etc.”
After being sent in the home side started well enough cautiously making their way to 35 before the loss of Randal Smith for (13) in the 11th over.
Only Smith and the ever-reliable Sorensen with (27) made double figures as the home side collapsed to be all out for 82 in the 34th over.
Barron will now play Atherton to determine the fifth grade 35 over champions this Saturday at Morrow Park from 12.30pm.
