Throughout Easter, St Crispins Cafe in Port Douglas will be donating 10 cents for every coffee sold to the victims of the floods down south.

From Good Friday through to Easter Monday, every coffee sold at the cafe will contribute to help those affected by the devastating floods in New South Wales and southern Queensland.

On top of that, the cafe already has a donation tin on the counter for individual donations.

Karen Jackson, owner of St Crispins Cafe, said that she will personally double the amount of the proceeds from every coffee sold.

“Having just been through the awful two years of Covid, we learned you can never take anything for granted”, she said.

“It is devastating to see this happen to our country again, after the tough times we’ve all just been through.

As a team we felt that we needed to help, even if it’s just in a small way.”

Ms Jackson said that the idea was brought up by Lou, one of their baristas. “I am very proud of Lou, not only as a team member but also for bringing up this idea.

I decided to double the amount of the proceeds as a donation from my family. We are all very lucky that we have not been affected.”

According to Ms Jackson this is not the first time the cafe snapped into action to help those impacted by disaster. “We have also donated to people affected by the bushfires in 2019 and we will be coming up with a donation to support people in Ukraine.”
