Life Ur Way offers disability, aged care services in Mossman

Mossman will soon be able to meet the needs of people with a disability and the aged when they open their Life Ur Way office on April 12.
The service areas will cover Craiglie, Port Douglas, Mossman, Julatten and up as far as Daintree Village.
Office Manager Samara Nugent said Life uR Way is a Cassowary Coast Far North Queensland locally owned and operated company.
“Our main objective is to bridge the gap in services in the area, for people with a disability and the older population. We provide in-home and community-based support including social support, community access, domestic assistance, group activities and more.
“We work towards helping people to reach their goals and build their independence, as well as making friends and having fun.
“We will have a coordinator in our Mossman office and she will commence duties on April 12.
“We chose Mossman as we heard from locals that there was a lack of suitable services for NDIS Participants and Aged Care Clients. We want them to be able to have a local face they can go to and local staff to support them,” said Nugent.
She said the name of the organisation sums up what we want to provide to our clients – to assist them to live their life, their way.
Services
There are two different kinds of services:
NDIS
People with an NDIS plan can access support for:
- Development of Daily Living and Life Skills
- Daily Personal Activities Support
- Daily Life Tasks Assistance
- Participation in Community, Social and Civic Activities
- Group and Centre Based Activities
- Life Stages, Transitions Assistance
- Accommodation / Tenancy Assistance
Aged Care
Aged Care clients with CHSP or Home Care Packages can access support for:
- Personal care, including assisting with bathing, toileting, dressing and grooming
- Domestic assistance, including general cleaning and house-keeping tasks
- Assistance with grocery shopping and/or meal planning and preparation
- Transport to and from activities and appointments
- Assistance to attend social activities and outings
There will also be employment opportunities for Disability and Aged Care Support Workers, as its client base grows.
Life Ur Way currently has a growing team of more than 80 support and administration staff across the entire Cassowary Coast Region. They are dedicated and focused on providing 1:1 quality support, Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI), Therapy Assistance and tailored Support Coordination to enable NDIA participants to meet their dreams and goals.
