Dragons turn attention to fifth straight title

Dragons focused
DOUGLAS Dragons will now turn their attention to claiming an unprecedented fifth straight division two FNQ title following a 3-1 loss to rivals Atherton in their Australia Cup knock-out clash.
The first half was an even affair with Atherton breaking the deadlock to take a 1-0 break into half time before eventually running out 3-1 winners.
“The match was a tough affair and despite missing a few key players we still played well,” upbeat Douglas captain Ben Blackwell told Newsport.
“We’ll look to build upon that performance as we head into the new season.”
The 15-year Dragons veteran said further success would be a dream come true.
“To win a fifth straight division two title would be unreal,” he said.
“Each year we just seem to be getting better and better, a lot can happen from now to then, but our goal is another title.”
The inspiring leader said overall the club looks to be in good shape for another successful year.
“We are looking at having two men’s teams this year and a ladies’ team which we haven’t had in almost ten years which is very exciting.”
