Do it in Douglas: local business series

Do it in Douglas
Discover Marlene Erard’s journey of relocating her family from Western Victoria to establishing a restaurant in Port Douglas.
In this week’s Do it in Douglas video, Marlene Erard tells us why she and her family decided to move up to Port Douglas and her passion for food and wine.
“Our dream was to live in a beautiful warm climate, something equivalent to Fiji and we found it,” she says in the video.
Mrs Erard and her husband Rohan Erard always had this ingrained passion for food which led to the opening of their restaurant Epicurean Port Douglas.
Their love of food and wine developed during their times touring vineyards and cellar doors across Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.
Mrs Erard says that she is sometimes still overwhelmed by the people that have welcomed them to Port Douglas and express their gratitude for the change they have brought with their restaurant.
As part of the ‘Do it in Douglas’ campaign, Douglas Shire Council, Tourism Port Douglas Daintree (TPDD) and Douglas Chamber of Commerce have launched a new series of storytelling videos that shine a light on local entrepreneurs and talent.
Do It In Douglas is about encouraging growth and prosperity in the Shire’s small business community.
The launch of nine videos will take people into the lives of those that have realised success in business and life. It also gives an inspiring and equally realistic insight into what it’s like to do business in Douglas.
