From the Port Douglas Sunday Markets to opening a gallery on Macrossan Street, in the latest video from Do It In Douglas, Steph takes us behind the scenes into her life as a talented artist and business woman in Douglas.
Together with her partner Dave, Steph opened the ever-popular SEA Gallery on Macrossan Street in Port Douglas last year, taking a plunge during the challenging pandemic-era and embracing an opportunity to lay down roots in their favourite seaside town.
Although the gallery is a beautiful space to exhibit and sell her art, the Port Douglas Markets continue to be at the heart and soul of Steph’s inspiration and business.
Steph continues to exhibit every Sunday and speaks fondly of her beginnings at the Port Douglas Markets, “The environment was just a really lovely nurturing place to begin as an artist, and we still have customers that bought from me those first few times at the markets that continue to come back each year.”
Shining a light on the community spirit in Douglas, Steph speaks of the support she and Dave have received from neighbouring retailers, ““We have a fantastic row of shops here right along Macrossan St who we have gotten to know almost like an extended family since we opened,” says Steph. “It’s been really wonderful having that brains trust of other retailers.”
As part of the ‘Do it in Douglas’ campaign, Douglas Shire Council, Tourism Port Douglas Daintree (TPDD) and Douglas Chamber of Commerce have launched a new series of storytelling videos that shine a light on local entrepreneurs and talent.
Do It In Douglas is about encouraging growth and prosperity in the Shire’s small business community.
The launch of nine videos will take people into the lives of those that have realised success in business and life. It also gives an inspiring and equally realistic insight into what it’s like to do business in Douglas.
