A stable male patient in his 20s with minor injuries was transported to Cairns Hospital after a single-vehicle rollover on the Captain Cook Highway near Thala Beach Nature Reserve and the Oak Beach turn off at 6.29 on Saturday night.

A spokesperson for Queensland Police Media confirmed the driver is in a stable condition and they found nothing suspicious, such as DUI, speeding or the driver was impacted by a slippery stretch of road.

A Newsport reader, who took the images, said motorists who slowed down to witness the scene, were horrified at the outcome, but thankful the driver survived the crash.

As the images show, his car landed in the bushes which helped cushion the vehicle as it rolled.

This was one of 16 incidents reported by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) overnight.
