Fresh from a comprehensive win Port Douglas face the ultimate litmus test on the road when they clash with a Cutters team determined to quickly rebound after being thumped by reigning premier Cairns City Lions.

After a tight first quarter the Crocs ran all over the Hawks last week while the Cutters were never in the contest against the Lions.

The two teams met close to a month ago in Port Douglas with the Crocs proving way too strong for South Cairns in the wet at the Sportsground.

Despite their loss to the Lions the Cutters will start marginal favourites in front of their faithful fans at Fretwell Park.

The Cutters always grow a leg on their home deck and the Crocs will need the likes of Josh Mawson, Nic Salter, Liam Brandt and Jayden White to back up last week’s performances if they are to overcome the home side.

Meantime, in CDRL action third placed Sharks face Southern Districts in Gordonvale on Sunday afternoon.

Districts, currently nineth, more than deserve to be higher placed on the ladder, having lost a number of tight encounters by less than four points during the first half of the season.

The afternoon encounter looms as a danger match for the Sharks who continue to do enough to stay in the winners’ circle without being overly impressive.

Lastly, Port Douglas Reef Raiders have a chance to chalk up their biggest win of the year tomorrow when they clash with JCU at Raider Park.

The Raiders desperately need the win to maintain touch with the top four placed teams.
