Last night’s Taste Port Douglas launch party at the Sheraton was a sell-out

This year’s Taste Port Douglas has been officially launched at the Sheraton Grand Resort and the stage is set for several days of tantalising food and fun. In other less forgiving years, we’ve had to miss out on the major culinary talent travelling here to weave their magic, but not in 2022.

The world class gourmet weekend started with a spectacular party under the stars. It was a sell-out with a two-hour grazing and snacking menu created by Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort's Executive Chef Belinda Tuckwell.

Add a two-hour drinks package and there was a swag of shuttle buses being called to the front driveway after the two hours or so. Sheraton’s Steve Molnar was smiling from ear to ear as he witnessed the crowd enjoying every moment of the launch to make it a night to remember.

It keeps going

Today saw the Taste Port Douglas Long lunch at Market Park, Wharf Street. Local restaurants, Salsa, La Cucina, Zinc & Harrisons, in collaboration with guest chefs Jerry Mai, Massimo Mele, Aaron Ward and Ben Williamson presented a three- course menu, accompanied by a three-hour beverage package of Jansz Tasmania Premium Cuvee and Yalumba wines from the Barossa in South Australia.

Alastair McLeod emceed the event, which also featured entertainment by ARIA award winning Kiki Courtidis. At 4pm today Devils Thumb Distillery at 1-3 Owen Street, Craiglee will present a mixing and masterclass on all things gin. Participants are provided with the opportunity to craft your very own gin through an extensive blending class using a broad range of vapour infused botanicals. And at the end you get to take a 200ml bottle of your very own creation home with you. (Always drink responsibly)

Village of the lambed

While some events are sold out you are most welcome at the Sheraton Festival Village tomorrow Saturday 13 August and Sunday 14 August, 12 noon - 5pm. The Village once again comes to life to celebrate Port Douglas’s rich culinary culture and lifestyle. Against a drop dead gorgeous backdrop of Four Mile Beach to one side and resort lagoons on the other, guests will enjoy a day of live cooking demonstrations from some of Australian’s most respected chefs and culinary presenters, food and wine stalls, masterclasses, junior foodies activities, industry talks, pop-up bars, live music and many more activities.

New hot ticket event

The Café Del Mar sunset session tomorrow Saturday 13 August, 6pm - 10pm at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas brings its iconic Ibiza sunset brand to Taste Port Douglas 2022 for a night of trademark house music under the stars. Sydney DJ Jusjoe promises to deliver a night of the classiest house music sounds from deep to soulful, indie cool and nu-disco. Fire twirling and LED shows by live performers make for one unforgettable experience from sunset, throughout the night.
$120 per adult - 18+ event only which Includes one welcome drink, 3-hour food package, live entertainment. All additional beverages are purchased from any of the pop-up bars.

Reminder

This is a cashless event with pop up bars accepting payment via your personal tap-and-pay Taste Port Douglas wristband. Wristbands are issued upon registering your ticket at the front gates. Arrive ready to snack and sip your way through the day by pre-purchasing your festival pass and pre-loading it with festival credit. Wristband top-up stations are available throughout the event.
