With lockdowns ending and border closures being reopened tourism in the tropical north is once again beginning to boom.

As occupancy throughout Port Douglas and Daintree currently sits at 86% the time is now to escalate the promotion of our patch of paradise as a must to visit.

With this mission a strong contingent of tourism linked business representatives have been training over 300 US travel agents before joining Tourism Australia’s Market Place next week.

The tourism event will be held in Los Angeles from 7 to 9 August and is an opportunity for representatives from one of the leading industries in Australia to establish business relationships with key qualified travel agencies and tour operators from North America.

CEO of Tourism Port Douglas Daintree, Tara Bennett told Newsport how the trip was going so far.

“The trip has been hectic and rewarding visiting a new city each day,” she said.

“North American travellers are drawn to the region primarily for the Great Barrier Reef, however it’s the ability to experience a raft of key Australian experiences in the one place that
gives us an advantage.

“Being able to meet with Product Managers, independent contractors from key wholesale and retail partners, Premier Aussie Specialists, and senior reservation consultants from across North America as well as training over 200 west coast travel agents has been an amazing opportunity.

Ms Bennett said that the uniqueness of the region held it in a great position to attract more visitors into the future.

“While highly trained travel sellers are often familiar with the region there are many who don't yet sell Australia.”

“Being able to bundle the reef, rainforest, wildlife, and cultural experiences in a laid-back beach location is they key message to encourage sellers to choose Port Douglas and Daintree for their clients.

“Our key goal is to encourage them to start encouraging their clients to consider Australia.”
While this pinnacle tourism event is taking place in the States everything that the Port Douglas and Daintree region has to offer visitors is being showcased back home also.

The TTNQ Regional Showcase is allowing the Port Douglas and Daintree to be taken on the road showcasing it to 100 business events buyers in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
