Sharks to enjoy well-earned bye

Time to rest

Mossman will enjoy a well-earned bye this weekend on the back of a stellar two months which has seen the CDRL ladder leaders enjoy an unbelievable run of form which stretches back to early May.
As it stands the Sharks have won seven straight matches, including a last up 34-20 win over Southern Suburbs at Coronation Park on Saturday night.
Prior to that Joel Marama’s outfit has accounted for Edmonton, Brothers, Ivanhoes, Suburbs, Yarrabah and Kangaroos.
You have to go back to May 7 to recall the side’s last loss which was a tight 26-22 affair against Innisfail in round 5.
However, since then Marama has consistently told Newsport he simply wants to see 80-minute performances and an ongoing desire for his players to do the little things right.
Well, the message seems to be getting through as the Sharks position themselves perfectly for a run at the premiership in the coming months.
In Aussie Rules, local side Port Douglas Crocs also have a bye in their respective AFL Cairns competition as well.
The Crocs will still be licking their wounds and can consider themselves terribly unlucky after losing an epic battle against Saints last weekend at the Croc Pit.
