Mossman had to work hard for their win over Edmonton.

Mossman will look to take their second Cairns south scalp in a row in the coming days after proving too strong for a determined Edmonton outfit in round 12 of CDRL action.

Sitting equal first on the ladder the Sharks withstood a late second half fightback from the courageous Storm outfit to claim a narrow 32-24 win at Coronation Park.

Noel Underwood, Aggie Gibuma and Stanley Anau were amongst the try scorers for the home side.

The Sharks next tackle Southern Suburbs on Saturday night in Mossman.

Southern Suburbs have been impressive most of the season and can consider themselves unlucky not to be placed higher on the ladder having lost a number of games by less than 10 points throughout the year.

This was again the case at the weekend in which they pushed heavyweights Innisfail all the way before narrowly losing to last year’s grand finalists’ 24-18 at Alley Park.

Meantime, Port Douglas turned in a much-improved performance in the latest round of FNQ Rugby.

Determined to push JCU the visitors worked hard before eventually going down to the Mariners 33-17 at Jones Park.

Luke Edwards and Richard Johnston were amongst the try scorers for Port Douglas.
