Douglas Shire residents have a host of NAIDOC week activities to enjoy as the region gets set for the annual event from July 10-15.

This Sunday a NAIDOC church service will be held from 5pm at Mossman Gorge, while the follow day a flag raising ceremony will take place at Douglas Shire between 10am-12pm.

On July 12 the Goobidi baby show kicks off at 10am, then later in the day the highly popular netball fast five competition starts from 4pm at Douglas netball courts.

The Mossman Gorge gateway markets will run on July 13 from 10am-2pm, with an Elders lunch the following morning at Mossman shire hall from 10am.

A big street parade and NAIDOC celebratory festivities will run on July 15 from 10am-1.30pm.

ā€œI encourage the Douglas Shire community to get out and about over the next few days to really enjoy NAIDOC and to take in the events on offer around town,ā€ a community spokesperson told Newsport.
