Four Mile Beach has escaped the dreaded Irukandji and remains open while six Far North Beaches have been closed.

Six people have been treated after being stung in the past 48 hours and Palm Cove, Ellis Beach, Kewarra Beach, Clifton Beach, Mission Beach and Etty Beach have been closed by Surf Life Saving Queensland.

Beach goers have been advised to follow advice from Surf Life Saving Queensland.

All cases have been dealt with at the emergency department at Cairns Hospital.
