A DIGITAL catalogue of online resources such as e-books, music and online learning are helping Douglas residents overcome isolation.

With the wet season in full swing and COVID-19 spreading across the region, Douglas Libraries is promoting a suite of activities on its online library. The library team recently refreshed its online presence at Douglas Shire Council’s website to make the online library more accessible for local users.

Douglas Libraries Team Leader Amy Inglis said her team was primed to help people enjoy the online resources. 

“We have a strong user base at Douglas Libraries, but a large proportion of our community are unaware of the amazing online resources we have available, or are unable to get started by themselves,” she said.

“If you have a neighbour, parent or grandparent who loves the library but isn’t quite comfortable going online, give us a call and we will be happy to help.

“We can talk people through the sign-up process over the phone or using Facebook messenger.”

You’ll need to join Douglas Libraries and get a card to access these resources. People can join the library here and get going straight away. You can also contact us via libraries@douglas.qld.gov.au and there is a feedback form on the website.

“We have spent a lot of time growing our audience at our Douglas Libraries Facebook page, as it is an easy and effective way to provide information to our community,” said Ms Inglis.

“Rural Libraries Queensland is starting a couple more subscriptions this year, which should be available very soon, and we will be rolling out streaming services shortly.”

A Home Library Service is also available for eligible residents, who will need to phone the library to discuss eligibility.
