Local operator ready to welcome the world back to Douglas

Renewed Optimism
THE opening of both domestic and international borders has given local tourist operators renewed optimism with most already eagerly awaiting the usual busy easter period.
Quicksilver is one local brand ready to see the bookings come flooding in.
“Easter is traditionally a busy period in Port and last year it was very busy with domestic visitors,” Quicksilver group marketing brand manager Sonya Clarson said.
“We would expect now with the borders open for it to be similar or better this year.
“Overall, it’s a very positive step and we’re excited to see the borders reopening for some of our international markets.
“While it will still take some time to recover it does provide a sense of optimism ahead, particularly over the next few months.”
Despite COVID Douglas has not lost its lustre as one of Australia’s premier holiday destinations.
“Port Douglas is an internationally regarded destination and the stepping stone to the many wonderful Great Barrier Reef experiences on offer,” Ms Clarson explained.
“It has a great climate and two wonderful World Heritage assets of Reef and Rainforest right on its doorstep.
“As one of Australia’s most awarded tourism operators, Quicksilver is ready to welcome guests from home and abroad to experience this very special part of the world.”
