Caution to waterfall chasers as two bushwalkers rescued in unrelated incidents

Police Rescue
Police officers commenced searches yesterday after receiving two calls for assistance from two separate bushwalkers.
Crystal Cascades to Fairy Falls
Police from Cairns were alerted to a 45-year-old Whitfield woman being disorientated and lost when she went for a bushwalk without sufficient water from Crystal Cascades to Fairy Falls.
She used her mobile phone to contact a friend, who in turn called police.
At around 2.30pm, three officers from the Tactical Crime Squad walked in several kilometres and located the woman.
The officers gave her water, checked to make sure she was fit to walk out, and then led her to safety.
Kuranda rail line
Cairns Search and Rescue officers commenced a search yesterday after receiving information about a man who had attempted to climb down a cliff face to get a drink of water.
The man had been walking the Kuranda rail line from Kuranda to Cairns when he ran out of water and tried to climb down the steep cliff face.
He became stuck, unable to go back up or continue down.
Police officers commenced a walk of the line and located the man. Officers directed the rescue helicopter to the location and the man was winched to safety.
Advice
With the extremely warm humid weather we are experiencing at the moment, police wish to remind anyone bush walking or planning a trip to make sure you carry plenty of water, tell someone where you are going and what time you are expected back, ensure your mobile phone is fully charged and carry a Personal Locator Beacon.
