The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate the circumstances which led to an horrific double road fatality just hours ago on Cape Tribulation Road in the Daintree.

Initial investigations suggested that yesterday around 10.30am a motorcycle with two occupants on board were involved in a crash with a tractor.

Police confirmed the motorcycle rider a man aged in his 60s “suffered critical injuries” and died at the scene.

The motorcycle passenger, a woman in her 30s, was rushed to Cairns Hospital, however she later passed away from her injuries.

The 67-year-old tractor driver from the Lower Daintree did not sustain injuries from the accident.

Police have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision of a silver motorcycle with two people on it travelling north along Mossman Daintree Road yesterday to come forward.

---- UPDATE ---- Tuesday Dec 13, 9.28am

Local Police have again called for witnesses to come forward just days after a terrible accident claimed the lives of two road users on a stretch of road in the Daintree area.

A male in his 60s and a woman in her 30s heading north together both died after unconfirmed reports the motorcycle they were travelling on appeared to have collided with a tractor.

"The investigation is continuing, Queensland Police are asking anyone who witnessed the behaviour of the motorcycle before the incident to contact Mossman Police or Policelink," Port Douglas Officer-in-Charge Damian Meadows told Newsport this morning.
