October year in review

October
Treetop Adventures
In October we were greeted with the timely development that Treetop Adventures had opened its ziplining activities in the Daintree.
A host of local personalities were on hand to open the new facility while Douglas Mayor Michael Kerr even completed the new course.
Hughie’s
In Mossman the news that Hughie’s Wine Bar was a new outlet to have a wine on a Friday night was met with loud cheers. This place will be a go-to for a long time to come.
Illegal camping
Another hot topic throughout the month was illegal camping. Council gave move on orders to those that had been camping in public areas across the Shire. This decision was met with mixed reaction with some members of the public querying where exactly car campers and the like are supposed to sleep at night.
Port Shorts
Another notable event during October was the staging of the Port Shorts Film festival. Once again this awesome event attracted a huge number of patrons who enjoyed movies from a range of talented film makers.
Sharks
In sport Mossman Douglas Sharks fresh from a heartbreaking grand final loss appointed incoming coach Davin Crampton. The experienced campaigner replaces Joel Marama who led the side brilliantly throughout the season.
Crocs
In further sports news, the Crocs continued their hunt for a new coach following the resignation of Brad Cooper who did an outstanding job for more than 10 years.
