Priscilla makes triumphant return to Clink - May 18
It might have been Douglas Shire’s greatest spectacle of the year; Priscilla the Musical.
As the show broke all theatre records in April this year, Priscilla almost had no other choice than to return from August to September for another run.
Launching a show of this magnitude has been a huge achievement for our small Shire, taking local theatre to another level.

Vale Howard Salkow - May 19
The passing away of Newsport journalist Howard Salkow came as a great shock and loss for the whole Newsport team.
Our Publisher Sam Cullen beautifully captured Howard’s life and his 7 year-long commitment to Newsport in this touching Vale.
Rest in peace Howard Salkow, you are still greatly missed.
Port Douglas united for breast cancer - May 20
It was the very first Biggest Morning Tea hosted by the Douglas Chamber of Commerce and it was a great success.
At events like these you can truly see the community's spirit to come together to raise money for charity as well as local businesses contributing to the cause.
A whopping $5720 was raised for cancer support and research. Let’s hope next year’s event will be an even greater success.

Ahoy! Ships return to Port - May 26
After the damaging effects on our tourism sector due to the Covid-lockdowns it was not only big news but also very great news for our Shire.
Cruise ships mooring off Port Douglas are a great source of income for our tourism sector and the whole town comes alive when cruise ships arrive.
Since the arrival of the first cruise ship on June 30 many have already followed and the arrival of the floating hotels have become a regular sight again in town.
