Port Douglas’s stunning home, built by Nathan Verri, wins two prestigious awards

LOCAL SUCCESS

Port Douglas’s prestige builder, Nathan Verri, has received two eminent awards for his construction of the Mirage Residence.
The announcement was made at the 2022 Far North Queensland Housing & Construction annual awards night.
The Mirage Residence won the ‘Over $2 Million Individual Home’ award and was described by the judges as ‘world-class’ and ‘simply beautiful’.
The stunning home provides a seamless transition between views of the rainforest and the local golf course.
“The six-bedroom home was recognised for the astounding use of mixed material, from concrete to natural wood.”
Built on 800 square metres of land, the stunning home featured a sunken lounge and bay window, and no expense was spared on the custom-designed, Queensland Maple oversized handmade doors.
Award for the swimming pool
The Mirage Residence took out an additional award for the ‘Best Residential Swimming Pool’.
“We constructed the pool as part of the over the project,” Verri said. The design created multiple places to relax, from a shallow end to being able to swim while looking over an infinity edge. At night a heated spa that looks over the golf would provide a moment of luxury.
Building through challenges
Roger Mainwood, TPG Architects, was the architect who provided the vision and worked closely with Verri throughout the building of the home. There were challenges, as construction began at the peak of Covid 19.
“It was wonderful winning the award and receiving recognition from the industry. The work can be stressful and couldn’t have been achieved without the support of so many professional tradespeople,” Verri said.
Across the region, our best architecture was recognised by the FNQ Master Builders Queensland, including state-of-the-art educational and community facilities.
