Sharks produce season best performance

Sharks Bite
The Sharks have proved that a few weeks is a long time in rugby league after turning in a season best performance to overcome competition favourites Brothers in Mossman.
Still licking their wounds after a demoralising round three 36-point defeat to Atherton in their last outing Mossman turned it on in front of their home fans to beat the highly fancied visitors 20-14.
But it was the way the Sharks got the two points that impressed player coach Joel Marama.
“To keep them scoreless for much of the match, and to hold a 16-point lead throughout the game was really impressive,” he said.
“We really worked on our defence following our last match and I thought for the most part we were really good in that area. We had a number of young guys really step up too, which I was really happy about.
“Brothers are a class outfit so to get the two points against them is a great effort by the boys.”
As expected Brothers stormed home and the result would have been much closer had the visitors kicked two more of their conversions.
Fullback Kienan Grogan-Hayes, inside centre Kalani Anau and centre partner David Nona with a double, each scored tries for Mossman.
Devante Heron bagged a double and Patrick Lewis scored tries for Brothers.
The competition takes a break this week, and the following week Mossman is on the road to Innisfail.
