Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr is urging everyone to respond to a survey that will provide insights into current and future energy trends.

Thousands of Queenslanders will have the opportunity to give their views on energy usage, electric vehicles and emerging technologies following the launch of Australia’s most comprehensive study of household energy use.

The Queensland Household Energy Survey is run annually by Powerlink in conjunction with Energex and Ergon Energy, as part of the Energy Queensland group. The survey provides valuable insights into current and future energy trends.

Complete picture

“I would encourage everyone to fill out this survey to allow a complete picture to be presented to the minister. Energy use is a continuing saga and understandable to see why most Queenslanders would want to look at smarter, cleaner and more efficient means of power.

It’s still disappointing however that they state that “We’re committed to delivering safe, affordable, secure and sustainable energy solutions to our customers across Queensland and we encourage as many people as possible to have their say to ensure the supply and service provided by the electricity networks continues to meet their expectations.”

Yet they still haven’t voiced any support for the environmentally friendly and efficient Micro Grid currently being moved ahead by the Federal Government. Energy is a utility required by all Queenslanders not just those they select to provide for.

Queenslanders keen on having their say on the future of the state’s electricity industry can participate in the survey and have the chance to win one of ten $100 gift cards by logging onto Powerlink’s website.

The survey closes Monday 18 April 2022.
