A week after their round one drubbing Port Douglas Reef Raiders have bounced back in the best way possible to trounce the Mudcrabs 43-5.

Played under rainy skies in front of the Raider Park faithful Chasley Nandy, Cole Watson, Stanley Afeaki, Taputoa Rea, Luke Edwards and Sione Taai all crossed for the home side to make amends for last week’s 46-0 loss to the Mariners.

Incidentally Afeaki’s appearance marked the first time the talented veteran had played a full match since his appearance for Tonga in a pool match against the All Blacks in the 2003 rugby world cup in Australia.

“The result was character building for us,” Afeaki said after the match.

“Our focus was to build upon the first 20 minutes that we delivered last week against JCU and I thought we did that.

“We wanted to make sure we won our own ball, stick to our focuses and be disciplined.

“I thought we did that against the Mudcrabs.”
