Mossman Sharks handed reality check

Rugby League Ambushed
Mossman has been handed a serious reality check after being ambushed by a hot Atherton outfit 40-4 in their round three clash at the local showgrounds.
Following back-to-back wins against Yarrabah and Edmonton the Sharkies were expected to make light work of an Atherton side that tends to struggle on the road.
However, the Roosters showed they’ll be no easybeats away from home this season scoring seven tries to one in their stunning 36-point victory.
The Roosters scored four tries in the opening 16 minutes and impressively, kept Mossman tryless until the 79th minute.
Ty Grogan bagged a double, while Glenn Dumbrell, Ned Blackman, Jordon Skeen, James Coyle and Caleb Foster all scored tries for the visitors.
“Overall, it was a little bit disappointing, we trained well all week and should have put in a better performance,” player coach Joel Marama told Newsport.
“There’s no excuses from our end, full credit to Atherton they played much better footy than us and deserved their win.”
Focus has turned
Marama, who incidentally missed the game because of a dislocated thumb suffered against Storm in round two. He said all focus has turned to the club’s round four match after the Easter break.
“We dropped our standards against Roosters, we acknowledge that, now it’s about properly preparing for our match against Brothers,” he said.
“They are always extremely tough to beat, so we know we’ll have to play very, very well to get the job done.”
In other round three results Brothers beat Innisfail 28-22, Ivanhoes pipped Yarrabah 30-22, Tully beat Storm 34-16 and Kangaroos overcame Suburbs 28-16.
