Local rapper chasing dreams

Platinum Kidd
A local musician who wants to make it as a rapper continues to put the work in to help his musical dreams come true and is being supported by local burger joint N17.
“Platinum Kidd”, also known by his real name of Tarquin Burford is a young, emerging artist who is creating waves across the region.
Owner of N17, Simon McLeod, is the first ever local business to sponsor a local artist. The young artist is grateful for the ongoing support of key mentor N17.
Platinum Kidd: “This is our first time working together and believe me we have a lot of big things coming this year together.
Building on the dream
“I've been rapping for two years but have only been uploading music for one year.
“Within that time I've achieved multiple outstanding stats and interest within the Australian music industry, particularly with my latest video, "In The Club", which is my fourth song.
“I've also had multiple conversations with some big Australian and worldwide artists such as “Timmy the trumpet” “Chillinit. 420”, “Fortay At Large”, “DMX” and more.”
The young artist suggested his unique sound could be behind his early success.
“The amount of interaction and interest I'm getting so early on in my career is really unheard of which is why I'm getting noticed by the bigger people in the industry,” he explained.
“My sound is different, and it seems to be resonating with people.”
Main goal
Aside from the musicality there’s another motivation behind the rapper’s career.
“My main goal is to inspire and motivate other kids and people in my local area to go hard for their goals,” he said.
“I believe there is a lot of talent in this community being wasted because they're afraid of what people think of them.
“I believe if I can build a strong enough platform I will be able to help a lot of young talented people in this area towards the end of my career.”
The budding rapper continues to work on his next project “MANIFESTED”, which will showcase the music of some fellow emerging rappers.
He’s also set to appear at Cairns’ “Inside Out” festival in the future.
