Labor candidate for Leichhardt Elida Faith has confirmed her positioning on the ballot paper ahead of the upcoming Federal election on May 21.

Following the recent ballot draw you’ll have to work through a series of other candidates until you reach her name.

“You'll find me at the bottom of your ballot paper this election, so make sure you vote one for Labor and number all your boxes to make sure your vote counts,” Ms Faith reminded voters.

Ms Faith has continued to hit the hustings in recent times and has attended a number of events and made a number of appearances to push Labor’s intended future policies and priorities.

Over the past few days Ms Faith has thrown her support about improving safety on the Kuranda Range, detailed a jobs plan to get the unemployed back into work, discussed the need to increase the wages of aged care workers and her want to strengthen medicare.

A short time ago Ms Faith also revealed Labor, if elected “will train an additional 500 first nations health workers to help close the gap in health outcomes”.

A local constituent also pressed Ms Faith regarding juvenile youth crime in the region.

“I’ve certainly had many conversations about community safety with state MPs and the wider community,” Ms Faith revealed.

“With increased policing, changed bail laws and greater investment to diversion programs they’ve certainly had an impact.

“There’s certainly always more that can be done and hopefully all governments can work together to keep tackling this problem.”

Last week Ms Faith had a message for residents in the Douglas shire.

"Being a tourist destination, I know Port Douglas has been hit hard by the pandemic and the Government’s bungled response,” she said.

“The Morrison Government’s failure to invest in skills has meant tourist towns are really struggling with securing workers.

“This is why Labor’s plan to deliver fee-free TAFE places is exactly the news we need in Far North Queensland.”

Ms Faith has also constantly reminded voters that a Labor government will reduce cost-of-living expenses if elected next month.
