AFL Crocs Pink Sports Day with a splash of blue

Charity Lunch
Pink in the Tropics and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia will be the benefices of this year’s charity lunch at the Crocs Port Douglas football club rooms on May 7.
Pink in the Tropics is a Breast Cancer Support Group which supports, raises funds and awareness for women of the Far North Region.
Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia is dedicated to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on Australian men, their partners and families.
Committee member Annie Richardson and the team have made the decision to split the funds raised on the day 50/50 with the two charities.
Money will be raised through the luncheon, onsite auctions and raffle as well as through the sale of tickets.
Major sponsor
Next Business Energy is the first major sponsor of this event.
Dean Scadding, regional Queensland manager at Next Business Energy, is proud to be the major sponsor of the Pink Sports Day.
“We want to help promote the awareness for both charities and the work that they do in research,” he told Newsport.
“My personal life and people around me have been affected by both cancers, some of them way too young to be diagnosed with cancer.”
Mr Scadding hopes that a lot of money will be raised, even for a small community such as the Douglas Shire.
He expects a big turnout on the day: “This day has been very well received over the past eight years and continues to get bigger.
“The support of the community is fantastic in raising money for people in need. We are only small but the generosity of the Douglas Shire community is nothing less than awesome.”
Being involved in the community
Next Business Energy has been in Far North Queensland for over 12 months providing another Electricity retailer option to the region.
“We are Australian owned and very much involved in the community, with me personally being in the area for several years,” Mr Scadding said.
He added that he is happy Next Business Energy can help the community by supporting these two great charities; Prostate Cancer and Breast Cancer.
Tickets for the luncheon can be booked through Trybooking.com. If you need to talk with a McGrath Breast Cancer Nurse click here or a Prostate Cancer nurse click here.
