Roadworks on Port Douglas Road are causing serious delays and frustration for motorists.
Readers have expressed frustration at the timing of these road works with criticism revolving around a lack of notification and/or the timing.
"Thank goodness we left early from Mowbray for a 1:00pm appointment or we would have lost it" said one reader.
"Why cant the resealing be done at night to reduce the inconvenience to the large traffic volume in the day time?" asked another.
A Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said:
"We are aware of delays on Port Douglas Road.
Resealing works are scheduled to be completed today.
We will work with the contractor to ensure traffic queues are cleared intermittently throughout the day.
Motorists can expect delays and should plan their trips accordingly.
We thank motorists for their patience while we carry out these works.
