Port Douglas will be hosting a series of Business Events this week, including a Business Expo at the Port Douglas Community Hall on 10 November 2021 from 8:30am.

Complete Business Solutions in partnership with the Small Business Recovery Centre, Department of Employment Small Business and Training have been delivering the series of Business Events for the Get Ready Small Business Campaign which include daily live webinars with business specialists, Meet & Greet networking with Business Specialists, a fully day Business Expo and 1-on-1 consults with Business Specialists. The daily webinars are shared across 14 Local Government Areas in Queensland to ensure small business owners have easy to access information to prepare and protect their business for any disaster.

Last week, the team delivered the series of events in Townsville which was a huge success. This week, from Tuesday 9 November to Thursday 11 November, the Complete Business Solutions and SBRC team will travel to Port Douglas along with a number of Business Specialists to help small business owners with free advice.

With so many tourism-related businesses in the community who have suffered financially through Covid, this will be a great opportunity for them to connect with Business Specialists and receive some free advice and workshop as well as free, one-hour, one-on-one sessions in areas such as Customer Service; Attracting, Recruiting and Retaining Employees; Marketing through and post Crisis; Post Disaster Business Diversification; Managing Finances; and Business Continuity.

Other exhibitors include:

  • Susan Yeeles – Rural Financial Counselling Services;
  • Sue Monk – Articulous – providing Disaster Hub app training;
  • Peter Maddock – Queensland Small Business Commissioner Office;
  • Cindy Perry – Department of Employment Small Business and Training Regional;
  • Douglas Shire Council Disaster Management team and
  • Tourism Port Douglas Daintree.

There is no cost to attend.

“The Get Ready Small Business campaign has been specially designed for small business owners to help protect and prepare their business against disasters such as extreme weather events, health crises, IT threats and emergencies.

“It is a great opportunity for businesses to gain useful information on protecting and preparing their business, accessing free resources and advice from up to 23 Business Specialists who can offer professional advice in areas such as Financial and Strategic Planning, Human Resources and Marketing to name a few,” says Petina Tieman, Indigenous Business Owner of Complete Business Solutions – the appointed Business Event Specialists.

Complete Business Solutions are currently establishing Port Douglas Business Hub, due to open early February 2022 in the Saltwater Building (the old Gazette Office) providing mentoring, grant writing, marketing, small business support and a range of other small business services.
