Free ice-cream will be offered to riders who participate in a free community ride through Cow Bay at 9.30am on Sunday 10 October.

The Rainforest to Beach Community Bike Ride will feature a 5km and 10km pathway-based rainforest ride starting from Floraville Ice-cream Shop, Cape Tribulation Rd.

According to a statement, Douglas Shire Council has organised the community cycle through funding from the Queensland Government’s Community Road Safety Grants scheme.

Participants will receive a cycling vest and free ice-cream after the ride.

Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr said the community ride provided the perfect excuse to spend a day in the Daintree.

“Bring a friend, children, or mum and dad for a fun and active scenic ride through World-Heritage rainforest,” he said.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to socialise and enjoy a fresh rainforest air with a great group of cyclists.

“We had a strong turnout to the Mother’s Day Community Ride earlier this year, so we expect another great showing.”

Hire Bikes are available at the ride start point however these need to be pre-booked at least 48 hours in advance. Please contact Bike Shop and Hire Port Douglas: 4099 5799

Participants are asked to park at the Cow Bay Hotel, located at the corner of Buchanan Creek Road.

More information can be found on Council's website.
