The hugely popular Wonderland Spiegeltent will make its long-awaited return to Port Douglas this Friday.

Over 10 days, the 1930s nostalgic wooden mirrored travelling European circus tent will play a key feature of the Port Douglas Carnivale, hosting a spectacular program of live entertainment including circus, cabaret, comedy, burlesque, music and family shows.

From seductive sword-swallowers and punk rock knife-throwers to topless tap-dancers and eye-watering contortionists, the Wonderland Spiegeltent’s headline show, Popcorn Underground, is set to be a rainbow show of diversity and glamour which organisers say is guaranteed to leave audiences breathless as the performers twirl their way through sex, skill and slapstick.

The show will run between 14 and 22 May staring Reuben Kaye in a night of sizzling adult cabaret, burlesque, magic, circus variety show.

Popcorn Underground, named after the Belgian dance party subculture, promises scintillating sexiness that will take audiences to a grittier place than they’ve ever been before.

Australian rock and roll ledged Tex Perkins will also hit the Wonderland stage as he teams up with blues musician Matt Walker in a one-night-only intimate show on Saturday 15 May at 5:00pm.

Then on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 May at 10:30pm, it’s Blunderland time, as the genuine New York variety show promises a trip down a rabbit hole of scintillating surprises audiences won't soon forget.

If you are after something more family-friendly, award-winning The Greatest Magic Show is one for the kids and is here in Queensland for the very first time, showing on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 May. As an added bonus, every child will receive a free magic wand on entry so they too can be involved with the magic every step of the way.

Located on the Port Douglas foreshore at Dixie Park, the Wonderland Spiegeltent Festival Hub will be a central arts and entertainment hub, not only featuring live performances but also sports a licensed garden bar, craft beers, delicious wines, sweet treats and food trucks ready to party in paradise.

Bold, beautiful and frequently hilarious, this season’s circus-meets-cabaret-meets-vaudeville extravaganza should take top priority on your Port Douglas Carnivale to-do list.
