The word is out, Port Douglas accommodations win big as TripAdvisor announced its 2021 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Hotels in Australia with Freestyle Resort being named in the Top 20, for the ninth time.

With travel bubbles in place and more on the way, pent-up holidaymakers can now turn their daydreams into reality with Port Douglas properties being highly showcased on TripAdvisor’s best of the best.

Every year, TripAdvisor combs through millions of candid reviews to come up with the properties that have dazzled their guests through glowing comments on customer service and overall guest experience. 

The accolades celebrate a variety of categories that Include big, small, and romantic to inspire a range of travellers.

Of the 25 hotels on the list, Freestyle Resort is the only property in Far North Queensland to rate a mention.

Making the Best of the Best list in Australia puts Freestyle Resort in the top one percent of hotels worldwide.

“To say we are thrilled is an understatement,” says Anne Moore, who together with husband Jason has been running the resort since it opened in October 2000.

“Along with everyone else in the hotel business, this past year has been incredibly hard at times. But it’s when times are tough that I think people appreciate even more the personalised level of service we love to provide.

“We’re lucky to be able to share this incredible part of our country with our guests, and we like to make sure they go home with a suitcase full of wonderful memories,” says Anne.

Love must be in the air in Port Douglas as three local properties, Peninsula Boutique Hotel, Martinique on Macrossan, and Daintree Eco Lodge all stoked the flames of romance ranking among the top 25 of the Travellers’ Choice for romance in Australia.

Martinique on Macrossan also placed in the top 20 of the best small hotels In Australia.
