THREE MINUTES WITH A LOCAL

Last updated:

This week’s G'day Port Douglas & Daintree introduces local café owner Jason Riches.

In the video above, Jason talks about what it's like to run a beachside eatery in Thornton Beach.

Born in London, he started an apprenticeship at 16. He says that he's always making food and wanted to make a life out of it.

After his apprenticeship, he travelled through Europe and eventually decided to move to Melbourne where he met his partner. Together, they opened a restaurant which they eventually sold.

One east coast trip later they stumbled upon the beautiful Douglas Shire and bought a café.

Now, Jason enjoys the beach daily and can't get away from this tropical paradise atmosphere.

G’day Port Douglas & Daintree is a series of videos featuring Douglas Shire locals sharing their lives and what inspires them to live in this beautiful part of the world.
