Motorists are advised to be aware of road works currently taking place around the Douglas Shire.

The Douglas Shire Council is conducting asphalt work on three roads from Monday 8 March to Wednesday 10 March – weather permitting.

The three roads are:

Warner St, Port Douglas
Wharf St, Port Douglas
Bonnie Doon Rd, Cooya Beach.

In a statement, Council advised “work will involve removing the asphalt seal and laying new asphalt.

“Work will commence no earlier than 7:00am and will conclude before 6:00pm each day.”

The roads will remain open to local traffic; however, traffic controls will be in place, seek alternative routes where possible.

Meanwhile, Council is also currently installing a new disability access ramp at the entrance to the Mossman Pool.

The steps and ramp at the main entrance will be temporarily closed from Monday 8 March while the work is completed.

The pool and caravan park will remain open and is operating as normal.

Access will be available via the ramp to the left of the reception.
