Great Barrier Reef rated top bucket list destination for Aussies

TOURISM

The Great Barrier Reef has topped the list of Australian bucket list destinations for 2021, according to travel search engine KAYAK.com.au.
The Daintree Rainforest also rated highly, coming in fourth in the list of destinations Aussies are wanting to visit this year.
Recent research by KAYAK.com.au found that a large number of Australians are yet to experience many iconic destinations in their own backyard with survey results showing nearly 1 in 2 Australians have not visited the Great Barrier Reef, Great Ocean Road or Bondi Beach.
Furthermore, at least 8 in 10 Aussies have not explored some of the most iconic outback destinations in Australia, like Uluru and Kakadu.
According to KAYAK, cost and crowds were identified as the top two barriers for Aussies not having travelled to these iconic destinations in their lifetime.
Ben Connell, VP of APAC Marketing at KAYAK says, “It’s surprising to see that iconic destinations remain undiscovered by the majority of Australians.
“Now that international tourists are non-existent and crowds are low, 2021 is the perfect time for travellers to snap up great travel deals and tick off some of these special locations on their bucket list.”
